UK exporting the means for death penalty executions in USA

The death penalty in US is predominantly by lethal injection, a process governed by legislation on which drugs must be used. One of these drugs is an anaesthetic sodium thiopental. This is in short supply in the US but supplies have been sourced from the UK. It was reported this evening that Vince Cable has refused to put a stop on the export of this drug despite being alerted to its intended use.
